Home Decor You Can Make Yourself!

It’s summer-time, and the creative juices are flowing. We have fantastic home decor projects you can make yourself, and they’ll look like they were done by a professional! We have papier-mache letters, in three sizes, to decorate anyway you like. This one uses acrylic paint, that we let dry. Then, applied greenery sprigs with a glue gun. It’s so easy, and you’ll have a fresh new addition for any room or door.

Create artwork like a pro. We chose a 12 x 12 frame, and cut craft paper to size for the background. Then, we used a package of 7 gypsies-brand chipboard letters, and got creative (the fun part!). For our example, we randomly placed the letters in the jumble, and glued “words” at the top. Hint: Arrange letters directly on the glass, face-down, with open frame face-down. Apply glue to back of letters, if needed, and lay craft paper face down, over back of letters. Put frame backing into place, anchor and voila – instant art!

Make a beautiful shadowbox – it’s really easy. Start with a shadowbox tray, then add some decorative corners (Tim Holtz, Idea-ology brand has lots of options). Then, you can really start creating – using vintage trinkets (Prima and Idea-ology offer so many), burlap, some Tacky Glue, and scrapbook paper – layered and lightened with Plain Jane Baseboard Mist. The possibilities are endless, and fun!

Here’s another project that uses Plain Jane Baseboard Mist. We applied the Mist to the canvas and let it dry. Then, applied Royal Coat to decoupage the scrapbook star, and to blend the Mist color. Some of the background Mist color was also “pulled” onto the star. After drying, we embellished with beads and letters on aluminum wire. And we have a simply beautiful canvas!

We love wine decor! Create beautiful burlap gift-bags with handmade tags, or, decorate new or used wine bottles. Spray paint bottles white, and let dry. Brush on enamel paint in any color, and let dry. The center is chalkboard paint, and the jute is by Darice (it comes in many colors). Add messages with chalk, or a chalk-board pen. Aren’t they fun?
